WebcamNow is one of the original providers of live webcam chat communities

“Practice makes perfect” may well be the motto of WebcamNow. WebcamNow is one of the original browser-based live webcam chat communities in existence today. They started out in 1998 with a goal to make webcam broadcasting “simple, free and fun” for everyone. They continue today to prove that high technology doesn’t have to be intimidating or for the elite.

WebcamNow offers a control panel that is almost self-explanatory. The ease of registration was impressive. One doesn’t need to own a web camera or microphone to try out the site’s offerings. This will however limit one to receiving chat in text and viewing images without audio. In keeping with their mission to make it free as well as simple and fun, WebcamNow offers a free and a paid version.

The free version does have its limitation. Specifically, the video refresh rate is slow, with images popping into the video frame at a maximum of 6 frames per minute. By upgrading to Speedster, WebcamNow images will pop in at 60 frames per minute, a much more virtual experience!

One of the nicest features may well be the ability to create links on your personal website to your own live video chat being hosted on WebcamNow. That and the capability to create webcasts for multiple viewers, maintains WebcamNow’s role as an innovator within the web-based video chat services. This is one service that easily entices the most diehard technophobe to spring for a web camera or microphone to be in the full experience of live webcam chat.
