WebcamNow technology powers a vibrant online webcam chat community

WebcamNow offers an Internet community that is the next
step up from blind newsgroups, bulletin boards, and chat
rooms. With much of inter-personal communication being
non-verbal, live webcam chat is a welcome addition to
standard text-based or audio chat rooms. With the addition
of a camera, software and your choice of speed, members of
WebcamNow can have the pleasure of looking someone in the
face while they’re talking. The remote personal one-on-one
communications begin to take on a more human element.
In addition, WebcamNow offers the opportunity to do a
webcast. A webcast is not limited to a one-on-one
interaction but has the potential for allowing multiple
viewers. There are varieties of uses for this technology
like online courses, speeches, conferences, and even to
webcasting public events like weddings.
The technology for live video chat is advancing yearly
with better bandwidth, picture quality, speed, and
availability. Creating communities of like-minded people
across the globe has always been one of the Internet’s major
strengths. Tying together live video chat with how
communities share information is the next wave of the
future.
Just as personal computers went mainstream, so will video
technologies across the Internet. Not everyone owns a web
camera, or a microphone, but as consumers are seduced by the
technical possibilities, these will probably become standard
peripheral equipment for a personal computer. In actuality,
to join WebcamNow does not require either of these two items
if one just wants to take a quick view at the show.
However, if we do feel a need to take a more active role,
WebcamNow is a place where even those of us that know little
about joining an online community can feel comfortable in
setting up our very own web camera and logging in to be a
part of the show.
